Flashback Friday: Omega Psi Phi Ball in Shanghai, China
Share this
Hey, friend!
Boy, do I have an entertaining flashback to share with you today! ?
The Person
In the fall of 2017, I started dating an American here in Hangzhou. We met in the metro station as I was on my way to work at another location for the training center I worked for.
He was the first black person I'd seen in China since I arrived on August 16th so you can imagine my excitement to see someone that I could relate to in the country that I was trying to get used to.
We exchanged WeChat contact cards and continued on our separate ways. We had a few conversations and went on a few dates.
His personality and sense of humor were a united breath of fresh air.
Our shared commonalities served as magnets that drew us closer together as we started dating. He invited me to accompany him to a gala that his fraternity was hosting in Shanghai. ?
What?!? A chance to meet more beautiful black people in this country where I haven't seen anyone else that looks like me?!?!?!
Ummmmm....YES, PLEASE!
The Plan
We started making plans to attend the Omega Psi Phi Ball in Shanghai. Since I can't fit most of the shoes here in China, Mr. O.M. bought me a pair of shoes from online and they arrived in perfect timing before leaving for the event.
The weekend finally came for the Omega Psi Phi Ball and I must admit that it was a blast.♎
If you remember from the first video where I introduced Mr. O.M., I talked about this event in Shanghai that he invited me to. I had no idea how quickly our friendship would grow! I did not think that we would go from associates to friendship to relationship as naturally and as fast as we did. He reminded me of all the things in life that I deserved in a relationship and that unconditional love is a real thing.
Many of the characteristics that I wrote in my book, Letting Adam Sleep, about waiting for the kind of love that God created for me was portrayed through the heart and soul of Mr. O.M. and I appreciate him for that.
The Party
It's time for another #StoryTime and I hope you enjoy this one. As always, please LIKE-SHARE-COMMENT and most importantly, don't forget to subscribe to my channel if you haven't already.
