Would I stay again? 🤔

From the gorgeous accommodations to top-notch amenities and impeccable service, this is a five-star hotel that's well worth its price tag.

Purpose of My Stay

After returning from my extended business trip in Hangzhou, I was scheduled to take a much-needed 10-day beach vacation after 2 weeks.

I didn’t expect the trip to be canceled due to new COVID cases popping up in various regions of China. 💔

I was heartbroken because I really really needed this time away.

Instead of wallowing in pity and sorrow at home, I decided to do something in my own city, even if only for a day or two.

One morning as I was scrolling down my WeChat timeline, I saw a flyer advertising a “2 Days 1 Night Pink Memories Girlfriends Room Package '' at the Grand Hyatt Hotel for 1888RMB for a limited time.

According to the advertisement, the package included:

  • One night stay in Grand Hyatt Ocean View Room
  • Extra long 28 hours check in, check in at 12, check out at 4 next day
  • Next Day 2 Buffet Breakfast Passes

  • 90-min Mi Spa Face & Body Treatment for 2

  • VIVA Bar Special Cocktail for 2

  • Afternoon tea for two in Lobby Lounge (weekdays)
  • 75% off Le Chef, Hong Hui and Lobby Lounge during stay
  • 20% off Mi Spa during stay

  • Swimming / Fitness Private Lessons 99 / person / class during stay (1 of 2)

After further investigation, I made a reservation and was all set for my mini-vacation.

The Location is Convenient

The Grand Hyatt Dalian is conveniently located on the coast of beautiful Xinghai beach in Xinghai Square.

Xinghai Square is really popular for ceremonial events like Spring Fireworks Festival, Dalian International Fashion Festival, a bungee tower, Convention and Exhibition Center, a large aquarium and more.

Whether you are looking for restaurants, shopping destinations, attractions or just a stroll outdoors, the closest one will always be nearby. Grand Hyatt's strategic placement in Xinghai Square also makes public transportation - such as buses and rail systems - easier than ever with many stops only a few steps away from the hotel entrance.

You can experience the beauty and wonders that Dalian has to offer without ever having to worry about getting lost.

Grand Hyatt Dalian Hotel - Secure COVID check in

The Check-In Process

I arrived at noon and entered the front lobby where an attendant asked for my green health code. After showing the health code, I went to the front desk where Kary, the Assistant Manager, greeted me in perfect English.

I showed her my green health code, proving that I was allowed to travel safely due to not testing positive for COVID.

As she and Mason, an attendant, checked for my reservation, she asked if I’d been outside of Dalian.  This was to be certain if I’d been in any of the high-risk COVID areas prior to arrival.

After answering questions, confirming my reservation, and paying a deposit of 500RMB, Kary ushered me to my room on the 22nd floor.

Along the way, Kary shared with me that the hotel has a total of 48 floors. The rooms go up to the 31st floor and the remaining floors above 31 are for business.

The Rooms are Stunning

As soon as I entered Grand Hyatt's exquisite accommodation, I was instantly taken aback. The Grand Hyatt Ocean View Room was breathtaking!  The first thing I saw was this spectacular view.

I love the picturesque views of Xinghai Beach, and my window offered the perfect vantage point.

Grand Hyatt Dalian Hotel - Beautiful view!

Not only was it spacious enough for me to feel comfortable and cozy but it was also well-stocked with all the toiletries one could ever need.

From plush robes and slippers, to an overflowing coffee maker and an in-room safe - Grand Hyatt Dalian didn't miss a single beat when it came to providing nothing less than a 5-star experience.

The room came equipped with standard amenities such as:

  • Marble bath
  • Hairdryer
  • Japanese-style automatic toilets
  • 24-hour room service
  • Minibar
  • Tea pot
  • 40" or larger TV
  • Cable/satellite TV channels
  • Radio alarm clock
  • Three or more telephones
  • Dual line phones
  • Speakerphone
  • Voicemail
  • High-speed Internet access
  • Dataport
  • Individual air conditioning control
  • 24-hour concierge
  • In-room safe large enough to store and charge laptop computer
  • Room Decor

With a design scheme consisting of natural textures such as marble and tile, with theme colors of hues of light green and blue, the room's vibe was one of serenity.

The room had a beautiful and elegant decor, in addition to stunning views of the skyline and the endless sea that could be seen from every window.

Speaking of windows…do you see these floor-to-ceiling windows?

Not only that, but I was greatly impressed with the duality of simplicity and complex detail in the wall art displayed in my particular room.

    The Bathroom

The bathroom featured a full-size tub, rainforest shower, and a Japanese-style toilet decorated in marble and granite floors.

The bathroom was divided into two sections. The toilet was on its own. The shower was coupled with the large bathtub in another area.

The toilet had a Japanese style bidet and shower function. The toilet seat would automatically raise through motion sensors when you walk into the bathroom.

This bath tub was exactly what the doctor ordered!

There were privacy doors to all of these areas as well.

One the morning before our spa appointment, I took a relaxing bubble bath but somehow I’d forgotten to pack my Epsom salt and bath bombs!

I debated on whether or not I should’ve gone back home to get them but the mere thought of dealing with traffic was a turnoff so I did something I’d never done before.

I put a Jasmine & Green Tea tea bag in the hot water, followed by the bottle of body wash provided by the Grand Hyatt.

The detox was just as effective, if not more, as my Epsom salt and bath bomb routine!

    The Mattress & Bedding

Since this was a girls’ getaway for two, I reserved a room with two twin beds instead of my usual king-size bed.

The bed was extremely comfortable, and I had no trouble getting a good night's sleep.

The pillows were also comfortable and afforded us the peaceful night’s sleep my guest and I both needed.

    Functional/Family Facilities

The health facilities are located on the 4th floor of the Grand Hyatt Dalian Hotel. You can read more about the facilities here.

    Property Amenities

Like most facilities in the international hospitality industry, The Grand Hyatt Dalian's property amenities include:

    • Room service
    • Non-smoking rooms
    • Accessibility for disabled guests
    • Business rooms
    • Elevators
    • AC
    • Work desk in room
    • Bath tub

    • Mi Spa
    • Hot tub/Jacuzzi
    • Insanely Gorgeous Pool with amazing view

    Fitness Center

Separated by glass windows, the fitness center is also located on the 4th floor beside the pool.

    Heated Indoor Pool

The pool had a great view of the Xinghai Bridge and city line. I enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub. I didn’t swim in the pool this time because I didn’t feel like putting on the required swim cap.

The hot tub was just as nice.

    Mi Spa

The spa was not what I expected.  It superseded my expectations.  Sunny, the attendant working on me, worked on several pressure points in my body.

The spa was exactly what my body was in need of.

This 90-minute body massage and facial made me realize just how tense and unrelaxed I was.

The spa robes were incredibly soft, so much so that I wanted to take one home with me.

Sunny did such a wonderful job that we exchanged WeChat contact cards afterwards because I will definitely book an appointment with her again in the near future.

    The Service is Impeccable

Grand Hyatt Dalian is one of the premier choices for luxury accommodation in the area. I was blown away by the level of hospitality they provide.

Prior to my stay, I contacted the hotel via WeChat to inquire about more information. Since I needed help in English, I was connected to Elijah, one of the customer service agents who helped me with the reservations.

From the moment I arrived, their staff was incredibly attentive and helpful - they went above and beyond to make me feel right at home. Nothing felt like a burden; anything I asked, no matter how small, was accommodated with grace and cheerfulness.

Grand Hyatt Dalian China knows how to make their guests feel at ease!

The Grand Hyatt provided an absolutely incredible spa experience during my stay. I indulged in the full works - a massage and facial - which ended up being one of the greatest highlights during my stay.

The treatment area was calm and inviting, and their staff were incredibly hospitable. They combined delicate, gentle strokes of traditional massages with specialized and highly effective techniques, leaving me felt fresh and invigorated after each session.

My facial was a perfect combination of soothing music, fragrances, and adequately applied pressure that rejuvenated my skin while leaving me in complete bliss.

    The Dining Options

The Grand Hyatt Hotel has 5 dining facilities to choose from. The Show Kitchen (1st floor), The Lounge (2nd floor), The Smoke House (4th floor), Dalian-Dalian (46th floor), and Viva Bar (47th floor).

The three restaurants that I visited during my stay were The Show Kitchen, The Smoke House and Viva Bar

And you don’t have to be a hotel guest to eat at these restaurants!

Grand Hyatt Dalian Hotel - Delicious Western Food Options

    The Show Kitchen

This was my second time eating at this restaurant.  I had lunch here once before with my former colleague Jeff a few months ago.  This time around, it was an opportunity for me to experience their breakfast and it was VERY satisfying!

Their western options were better than the ones at Le Meridien Hangzhou! And you remember how much I raved about this buffet breakfast, right?

Omelet station, waffle station, fresh juices, and more!

    Omelet Station

    The Smoke House

Although the package did not include lunch or dinner, my friend and I ate at the Korean BBQ restaurant on the 4th floor (The Smoke House) and I received a discount of 25% since I was staying at the hotel.

    The Smoke House

The food here was delectable! It was my second time visiting since living in Dalian.  This time, I had more meat and a few vegetables.

I am certain that I will eat here again because the quality of food was exactly what my palate was in need of.

    Viva Bar

We went to enjoy our free cocktails later in the evening.

The cocktail was served at VIVA bar on the 47th floor, between 7:00 pm to 01:00 am.

They didn’t have the particular cocktail that I requested, although it was on the menu, so I had to go with an old regular.

I also tried the truffle fries which were decent but not filling.

The Afternoon Tea for 2 Spread!

    Afternoon Tea @ The Lounge

On the second day of our stay, we enjoyed the Grand Hyatt Dalian’s “Afternoon Tea for 2”.

The finger foods and desserts were splendid!

Not to mention, the lounge area we were seated in had a marvelous view of the bridge and was well-lit by the bright sunlight beaming through the large windows.

What to Expect While Staying During a Pandemic ?

There were many safety protocols in place. Masks were required by everyone in the hotel, whether staff or guests.

Additionally, all guests had to show the National green health code, indicating that they recently tested negative for COVID.

So, How Much Does It Cost to Stay Here? ?

Since I booked the special advertised getaway, my 2-day/1-night stay was 1888RMB ($261.02).

To find out how much it would cost for your desired length of stay, check out this listing on

    Overall Thoughts?

Overall, I wish I had more time to spend at the Grand Hyatt during this stay.  Although it wasn’t a 10-day vacation in Santa by the beach as originally planned, my stay at the Grand Hyatt Dalian was exactly what I needed to be rejuvenated.

I would like to thank the staff and servers at Grand Hyatt for their courtesy, special offer and hospitality. I would especially like to thank Assistant Manager Kary and Manager Bowen for their support during check-in and check-out.

Question: How comfortable would you feel staying at Grand Hyatt Dalian Hotel during a pandemic? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comment section below. ♥️
